Walter was born and raised in the Cantoocook River Valley of New Hampshire. Evan as a child, he always kept a point and shoot camera nearby. His first exposure to an SLR was in 1974 when he became a photographer for the Hillsboro-Deering High School Class of 1975 yearbook. No great works of art were created but a lifelong interest in photography was.
In the early 1980s, while serving in the US Army and stationed in Grafenwöhr, Germany, he bought his first SLR – a Canon AE-1. For the next 25 years, the AE-1 traveled with Walter everywhere he went. Over the years, he captured some pretty nice photographs with it.
In 1990, Walter was accepted into the Army’s Forensic Photography program, an intensive two-year course wher he received his first formal training. It was during this time he learned not only about 35mm photography but medium and large formats as well.
Retired from the Army and now living in Georgia, Walter has continued with his passion for photography. He has won numerous awards in various photography competitions and has had his photos published in conjunction with magazine articles as well.
His main interests are travel and landscape photography, and he enjoys sharing his interpretation of scenes with friends and family. He hopes you will enjoy his work as well.
